The KZE Kamper is #981KZE’s mobile live music broadcast and production vehicle. It was built to take the station out of the studio and directly to concerts, festivals, clubs, theaters and outdoor stages throughout the region.

The Kamper combines multitrack audio recording, live broadcast mixing, wireless video production, satellite and IP transmission, livestreaming and concert archiving in one mobile production system.

From the Kamper, #981KZE can broadcast a performance live while simultaneously recording individual audio tracks, capturing video and creating a separate mix for radio, livestreaming or post-production.

The KZE Kamper is also the mobile production platform behind SignalRiot, #981KZE’s live concert broadcast project.

SignalRiot brings together live radio, concert recording and remote production technology with the kind of field broadcasting that was once much more common in radio. Instead of relying on a finished recording after the fact, #981KZE can bring the production facility directly to the performance and capture the show as it happens.

LIVE AUDIO PRODUCTION

The KZE Kamper contains a full digital multitrack recording and mixing system designed for live music production.

Individual stage sources can be recorded independently while a separate live mix is created for FM broadcast, livestreaming or event production.

This allows the complete performance to be preserved for later mixing, editing and archiving without being limited to the mix that went out live.

WIRELESS VIDEO PRODUCTION

The Kamper includes a full wireless multi-camera video system.

Cameras can operate throughout a venue or festival site without requiring traditional video cabling back to the truck. Video can be monitored, switched and recorded from inside the Kamper while the audio production is taking place.

The system can be used for concert capture, livestreams, artist interviews, backstage coverage and other live event production.

LIVE BROADCASTING

The KZE Kamper can provide a complete live broadcast feed directly to #981KZE or to another broadcast facility.

Performances can be mixed on site and transmitted in real time using professional broadcast transmission systems.

Because the Kamper carries its own production and communications infrastructure, it can operate from locations where permanent broadcast facilities do not exist.

SATELLITE AND REMOTE TRANSMISSION

The KZE Kamper can provide satellite uplinks to major broadcast networks, distribution systems and broadcast facilities.

The transmission system also includes IP-based connectivity using professional broadcast codecs, Starlink and 5G.

Multiple transmission paths give the Kamper the ability to move high-quality audio and program feeds from remote locations back to #981KZE, another radio station, a broadcast network or other production facility.

LIVESTREAMING

The KZE Kamper can livestream performances directly to the #981KZE website.

The system can also support livestream production for outside events and broadcast organizations, allowing live audio and video originating at the event to be distributed beyond the venue.

CONCERT RECORDING AND ARCHIVING

Concerts produced through the KZE Kamper can be captured as full multitrack recordings for later mixing, editing and preservation.

Audio from selected performances is stored in the <strong>#981KZE Concert Archive</strong>, creating a growing collection of live performances recorded by the station.

The archive allows listeners to return to performances originally captured by #981KZE and SignalRiot after the live broadcast has ended.

The KZE Kamper is not limited to #981KZE productions.

The truck and its production services are available for rental by radio stations, broadcast networks, concert promoters, festivals, venues, event producers, artists and other organizations that need professional mobile audio, video, recording or transmission capability.
